The early rush is over. I’ve spent most of my time potting up annuals for the deck and hanging baskets. The few vegetables that I plant ( tomatoes, peppers, salad greens) are in. A serious case of garden laziness has taken hold.
The perennials have filled out and future moves are planned and noted. Ideas for enlarging beds and adding new ones ( Gardens rarely downsize) come with every stroll through the garden. Overall design is pondered from a comfortable chair on the deck. This is no guilt laziness, just simple enjoyment of the dwindling moist coolness of spring.
The weather has been perfect for sitting around and watching the garden grow. The turn of the month means hot humid air will soon be working its way northward. With it will come an array of outdoor activities, cookouts, festivals, road trips.
